In 1977, the Lord directed Don and Earline Rebstock to formulate anointing oil scented with frankincense and myrrh. Frankincense symbolizes Jesus’ holiness and myrrh is symbolic of the suffering He would endure while on earth. Olive oil is used as the base for the anointing oil symbolizing the Holy Spirit, salvation, and grace. (Hebrews 1:9)

We presented the anointing oil and interest was generated; however, it was not the Lord’s time. We continued our development, researching biblical fragrances and spices, their availability and cost, and it’s noteworthy that some have been lost over the centuries while others are still available and very costly. Many are still being gathered in methods similar to biblical times.
In prayer with our Pastors, Bill Ligon and Calder Kinney of Christian Renewal Center in Brunswick, Ga. and brothers and sisters in Christ, we then prepared the anointing oil as a service to the Body of Christ.

In July of 1977, Earline asked the Lord to reveal the name for the oil. He spoke to her that the name should be “New Hope.” Jesus is our New Hope, our salvation, and the promise of eternal life.

On March 28, 1999, God sent a special lady named Elizabeth to be united in marriage with Don.

In retrospect, we can see more clearly how each “obstacle” we encountered was an opportunity to remain patient and hopeful that He might reveal His overcoming touch as He spoke life and hope to the ministry of anointing with oil through His Word and through brothers and sisters in the Lord. What seemed to us to be a puzzle, the Lord was putting together a ministry, piece by piece, each and every detail His handiwork. Jesus is continuing to unfold and reveal just what the ministry of oil entails and our Lord has placed the next piece of the puzzle upon our hearts “tell my people about anointing.
